Virgin Coconut Oil as a Massage Oil
Baby Oil vs. Virgin Coconut Oil

There are many ways to produce baby oil, a common method is to make a blend of mineral oils. Mineral oil or liquid petrolatum is a by-product in the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline. It is a colorless oil composed of alkanes and cyclic paraffins, related to white petrolatum. Mineral oil is commonly used as a lubricant and a laxative.

It has no nutritional value, and with prolonged use may deplete the intestines of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as decrease the absorption of the valuable minerals calcium and phosphorus. Mineral oil slides through the intestines, possibly taking vitamins with it. Now that you know where baby oil comes from, would you still use it on your baby?

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) helps in absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and vitamin B. It helps in the absorption of minerals (Ca, Mg, Fe). It is easily absorbed by the body ad by the skin, it is food made from coconuts, it is food for the skin and can slow the aging process by keeping the skin healthy.

VCO has an energizing effect and makes the body work, heal, metabolize and defend better. It has anti-viral and immuno-boosting action. It has a slimming effect.

VCO has an anti-inflammatory action when massaged on limbs and joints. It can be used to relieve gout, arthritis, rheumatism, joint pains, swelling, kill skin fungus and help in wart removal. It can stimulate hair follicle growth when massaged on the scalp.

VCO can block hamful effects of many toxins (such as ethanol, MSG, aflatoxin, E.coli endotoxin). It can rejuvinate diseased tissues and stimulate white blood (T cell) production. It can be used to help the body detoxify.

Keep Your Family Safe
From Baby Oil

Who would ever think that a product made for babies could also kill them? Unfortunately, baby oil — a staple of the nursery — contains hydrocarbons that can be deadly. If children aspirate baby oil, their lungs become coated with the oil. This blocks oxygen and prevents proper respiration, ultimately leading to chemical pneumonia.

To keep little hands from opening baby oil bottles, store baby oil where your child can’t reach it. For further safety, childproof caps on baby oil bottles will be mandatory starting in October 2002. Target stores currently carry childproof caps on their baby oil.

Be aware that other household items, like some sunscreens and automotive products, may also contain liquid hydrocarbons. Always check package ingredients and keep toxins away from children.
